Does something inside you light up when you think about the chance to learn lampwork? Are you drawn to the endless possibilities that layer after layer of molten glass can become? Have you spent countless hours watching people lampwork online and wished you could find somewhere in Winnipeg to learn?
If so, then I’m more than happy to invite you to book a one-on-one or small group learning session in my studio at 618 ARTlington.
What is Lampwork?
Lampwork is the process of melting glass over a torch and shaping it using hand movement, tools, and gravity. It’s an ancient craft with thousands of years of history, and a deeply tactile, meditative way to work with colour, heat, and form.

What to Expect
Lampwork sessions are offered by private booking and may be:
- One-on-one instruction
- Small groups (friends, family, or creative partners)
Each session is customized based on:
- Your experience level
- What you’re curious to learn
- The amount of time available
No prior glass experience is required for beginner sessions. Participants may go home with completed small beads or plant stakes.
If you are a more advanced lampworker or have specific projects in mind, these sessions are not right for you. Individual torch rental time is not offered.
Safety & Studio Guidelines
Dress Code
Participants must:
- secure hair back
- wear closed-toe shoes
- avoid loose clothing or long sleeves
- wear didymium safety glasses (provided)
- have natural nails (not synthetic/acrylic/gel)
Torch Time Eligibility
All learning sessions begin with observation, discussion, and instruction before any hands-on torch work. To be eligible for time on the torch, participants must demonstrate that they:
- Can follow instructions clearly
- Are comfortable working safely in the studio environment
- Do not pose a risk to themselves or others
Maintaining a Safe Learning Environment
If a participant is unable to follow safety guidelines, becomes disruptive, or creates an unsafe situation, they may be asked to step away from the torch or leave the session early. This is solely to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for lesson participants as well as other artists in the building.
